I am delighted that the official government guidelines allow me to get back to the business I love from today. Of course, I’ve had to make some changes to the way I work for both my safety and yours. I’d love to show you how I’m doing that and how to prepare for your session with me.
I know the last 10 weeks have been tough for us all. You’ve kept yourselves away from family and friends. You might have had difficult working conditions to experience and you’ve had to turn your hand to all sorts of skills – including homeschooling, cooking and crafting! But we’re starting to come through the other side now and I know from talking to previous clients, that the common theme of lockdown has been the huge reminder of how important family is to us all. The images I’ve captured over the last few years for clients have brought a whole new level of comfort when you’ve not been able to spend time with the loved ones in your portraits. Some people have also realised there are ‘gaps’ in their family galleries that need filling. It’s made me realise just how important capturing your family in happy times really is.
For this reason, I’m opening again with Outdoor Family Sessions. There are two packages to choose from - the Mini Session prices start from £70 (including 5 digital images) and the Full Family Session from £150 (including 10 digital images and 2 10x8" prints). You are allowed to bring along up to 5 family members provided that they are from your own household.
How to prepare for your photoshoot
I can’t wait to capture your beautiful families – these portraits are going to be so special and in a few years' time you’ll look back on them and know that together you all got through the strangest of times. I thought it would be a great idea for me to going through what you can expect in 5 steps.
Before we put a date in the diary we need to pick the perfect location. The outdoor photoshoot can take place in either a special location to you (this could be a local park or a nature reserve) or your wonderful garden (as long as the social distancing measures are still in place and there is access to the garden without going through the house).
Here are some suggestion, these are local parks in the Epsom and Kingston Areas:
Mayfield Lavender Farm - Perfect this time of year (June-August), the fields are full of bright purples and gorgeous scents. Excellent for taking photographs. This outdoor space can get very busy, so I would suggest a morning or evening session.
Nonsuch Park - A big outdoor space, with beautiful gardens and lush scenery.
Epsom Common - Perfect for a woodland fairytale. photoshoot The park is amazing with plenty of spaces and areas to capture your family.
Richmond Park - Bonny meadows and plenty of roaming Deer, This is also a perfect day out for the children and a fabulous place to capture all of you naturally.
Bushy Park - Green, spacious and beautiful, put on your adventure boots and bring the family, a lovely park to capture your family moments and giggles.
I always say to my families to come as yourselves. Dress comfortably - remember you'll most likely be in a park, in the grass and your little ones will probably be climbing things. I would only suggest one thing, to stay away from slogans, logos and large shapes/patterns on T-shirts as these can often age badly. Please wear light clothing and colour match if possible. If the day turns into grey clouds and a little rain don't worry, we all love a 'jump in the puddle' photograph or dancing in the rain with an umbrella. We'll take the weather as it comes, that's the beauty of Great Britain.
I am here to capture your family's wonderful personality and character. Not everyone is the same, we are all individuals. If you have a pet dog, bring them along with you - after all, your pet is also a member of the family. If your children have any favourite sports or outdoor activities, for example, football, bring along a ball for them to kick-about with dad or siblings.
The photoshoot is a collective experience, so let us make it super fun and memorable.
-4- The experience and how to pose
With social distancing firmly in mind, the way photographs are taken will change slightly but this won't affect your experience. I won't be able to position you as I normally would, especially if you have a baby, however I will give helpful and clear instructions on how to stand and frame yourselves perfectly. The photoshoot will be more natural and candid rather than posed and staged. Your family are there to enjoy the outdoors, have a great time and share a fun experience. I am there to document you in professional way, capturing all the joy and happiness shared between you.
-5- The end result
Up to one week after the photoshoot we will schedule an online meeting via Zoom in which we will go through your images and you will select your photographs included with your session. There is option to purchase more during this viewing appointment. Depending on the package you choose, the items shall arrive at your doorstep 14-24 days after the photoshoot.
You'll also receive a thank you voucher with a special offer.
If you have any concerns or question please feel free to contact me.
I can't wait to meet you and your amazing family, celebrate the love you share and capture the moments shared together.
