It’s May, can you beileve it? The fields are looking greener and the sky brighter! We have our long sunny evenings and so many flowers blossoming. May is actually my birth month, home to the Emerald birthstone and the star sign - Gemini. Some of you might be sat at home expecting a springtime baby (congrats), you may have plenty of time on your hands which is perfect to start thinking about your baby’s name. Grab your pen and paper, check out these beauiful spring-inspired girl and boy names. 1) Aurora The name originally came from the Roman mythological goodness of Dawn. It is also the name of a Disney Princess from the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. 2) Blossom Nothing is prettier than the Blossom flower that falls from the Cherry trees. 3) Florence It comes from Latin florens, florentius "blossoming", verb floreo, meaning "I blossom / flower / I flourish”. Very beautiful and soft on the lips! 4) Freya (My favourite, my future partner will have no say) In Norse mythology, Freya was the goddess of fertility and the Most beautiful Goddesses. The English definition states the name means “Lady, mister and Noblewoman”. 5) Lilly In English meaning The flower lily is a symbol of innocence, Purity and beauty. 6) Iris Meaning Rainbow in Greek, Iris was the goddess of the rainbow and a messenger to the gods. 7) Persephone A toungue twister by a very pretty Greek name, In Greek mythology she is associated with spring and fertility - her symbols are flowers, deers, seed and most commonly a pomegranate. 8) Arya The name comes from a Sanskrit origin meaning noble, air/song - made popular by HBO series Game of Thrones. 9) Chloe Another gorgeous name, meaning Blooming or fertility in Greek. It refers to the young foliage or shoots in spring. 10) Rosie From English origin meaning rose, rosy-cheeked, and cheery. Boy names are a little harder when it comes to Spring inspired but here are a few of my favourites. 1) Eden Originally a Hebrew name meaning delight from the Biblical Garden to Eden. 2) Javier or Xavier Region of origin - Latin Europe meaning new house, bright and splendid 3) Raphael Another beautiful Hebrew name meaning healed, Rapheal was one of the archangels in the bible. 4) Owen A traditional Welsh name meaning noble and young warrior. 5) Asher Old English meaning “one who lives near an ash tree of grove” - personally I just love saying the name! 6) Brooke (gender neutral) A name from Irish origin meaning water, small and stream 7) Ambose The name derived from the Greek name Ambrosias meaning immortal 8) Milo This name is very popular this year, the name actually comes from Germanic origin meaning mind, peaceful and calm. 9) Maxwell (Or Max) A powerful name from Scotland. The name derived from Maccus (great) and Old English wile (spring and pool). 10) Oliver “please sir, I want some more”, what an iconic name - meaning Olive Tree symbolising fruitfulness, beauty and dignity.
